Barbara Costa, 72, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a long illness on Friday, January 21, 2022.
Born in Plymouth and raised in Carver, she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Mary (Barros) Costa. She lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Barbara loved to travel, shop on QVC, and spend time with her dog, Jackson. She had great style and dressed up everywhere she went. She was very outgoing and could talk to anyone in the room. Barbara especially loved her grandkids.
Barbara graduated from Plymouth-Carver High School. She worked for the Social Security Administration for over 40 years before retirement.
Survivors include her son, Paul Costa and his wife Alison of New Bedford; siblings Diana Gonsalves, Richard Costa, Linda Costa-Goncalves, and Peggy Thompson; grandchildren, Kelsey Pina, Rhiley Sylvia, Kaelyn Costa, Mia Costa, Ella Costa, and Ronan Costa; 7 great-grandchildren; and many cousins; nieces; and nephews.
She is predeceased by her siblings, Margaret Andrade and Kenneth Costa.
Her memorial service will be held at a later date.
