Sarah Jane Hunter Brown, 85, of Woodruff, South Carolina, died Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla, Georgia, with the Rev. Roger Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Irwin County, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Mrs. Brown was born March 2, 1936, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Emory D. & Gladys Daniel Hunter. She was a homemaker and lived most of her adult life in South Carolina. She enjoyed sewing for others and going out to eat. Mrs. Brown never met a stranger. She enjoyed attending her church, New Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Woodruff, South Carolina.
She is survived by a son, James Nix of Jacksonville, North Carolina; a brother, Charles Hunter of Irwin County; and four sisters: Mae Ann Alderman of Irwin County, Joyce Alexander of Lakeland, Florida, Betty Dotson of Havana, Florida, and Linda Mixon of Statesboro. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy V. Brown and a son, Tommy D. Brown.
