Donald F. Jones, 65, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Memorial services will be held 3 PM, Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla, Georgia, with the Honorable Judge Bill Reinhardt officiating. Wyndall Walters will give the eulogy.
Mr. Jones was born April 13, 1956, in Irwin County, Georgia. He was a 1974 graduate of Irwin County High School. On Christmas Day of 1978, he married JoAnn Freeman and began farming with her father, Cecil Freeman, eventually taking over the family farm. In the early 1990s, Mr. Jones went to work for Emory Walters as a legal assistant, where he worked faithfully by his side for 15 years. He continued his career in law as an independent consultant for Bob Reinhardt and family as well as for Rob Walker. Mr. Jones was an avid golfer, fisherman, and sports fan. He enjoyed most of all cheering on his grandson, Owen, and his teammates, whether it was on the football field, baseball field, or wrestling mat. He will forever be Owen’s #1 fan.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 43 years, JoAnn Freeman Jones of Ocilla; his daughter, Ashley Jones Griffin and her husband Casey of Ocilla; and a son he raised, Keith Henry Harper and his wife Anna of Ben Hill County. He is also survived by two grandsons, Owen & Brooks, who lovingly referred to him as “Grandfather”. Other survivors include his twin brother, Ronald L. Jones (Patsy) of Mystic; an aunt, Janice Tittle of Valdosta; a sister-in-law, Jan Joiner (Roy) of Willacoochee; and a brother-in-law, Mickey Freeman of Wray; along with his nieces and nephews that he loved as his own: Deidre, Jessi, Chacey, Leigh, Logan, Lexi, Maddox, Avery, Robby, Will & Kate. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Reese Jones.
