Mr. Michael George Turmel, a longtime resident of Andover and beloved husband of 30 years, Kathleen (Connolly) Turmel, passed away at the Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence on Wednesday evening, January 19, 2022. He was 68 years old.
Born in Methuen, Massachusetts, on August 14, 1953, he was the beloved son of the late Norman G. and Bella T. (Demers) Turmel. Michael was a graduate of the Greater Lawrence Technical School in Lawrence. He was a Welder in his younger years and was retired from Merrimack College as a Locksmith. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and riding his scooter. He and Kathleen also enjoyed spending the winters in Florida, traveling and visiting all of the continental United States in their motorhome. He will be dearly missed.
Besides his wife, Kathleen, Michael is survived by his loving siblings; Nancy and her husband Robert “Bob” Turco of Berwick, Maine, Janet and her husband Gary Morin of Tampa, Florida, David Turmel and his partner Henry Digiacomo of Methuen, Barbara Hildred of Methuen, Bruce and his wife Tammie of Alexandria, New Hampshire and Jeff and his wife Christina Turmel of Methuen and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also the brother of the late Theresa Whitaker.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be private.
