Wayne R. Vandal, 73, of North Dartmouth, MA passed into eternal rest on January 18, 2022. Wayne was born on November 25, 1948 in New Bedford, MA. He was the son of the late Herve William “Bill” and Gladys Vandal (Allison)
Wayne was a lifelong resident of Southeastern, Massachusetts and a graduate of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School and Bristol Community College. He was involved in his community with various organizations including the Dartmouth Lions Club. He served honorably in the United States Navy and also served as a Massachusetts State Trooper for twenty years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant.
Wayne’s boisterous voice and laughter could be heard even in the most crowded room. He loved to laugh and always had a way of bringing smiles to peoples faces. He organized many charity events including golf tournaments and comedy nights and always looked to help wherever he could.
Wayne is survived by his loving partner, Frances Reynolds, her daughter Victoria and her family. He is also survived by his sons, Christopher Vandal and his wife Joanne of Enfield, CT, Neil Vandal and his wife Melanie of Mattapoisett, MA; former wife, Louise Vandal of Mattapoisett, MA; his brother Herve Vandal, Jr.; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Vandal, Reese Vandal, Elaina Vandal, Emily Vandal and Grady Vandal.

The SPAM Benevolent Fund has provides resources to numerous families throughout the public safety community including state, local, and MBTA Transit police, firefighters, and various Troopers’ families beyond Massachusetts’s borders. In addition, each year provides scholarships to Association members’ children and dependents and to children and dependents of members who have been killed in the line of duty.
Wayne will be laid to rest on Thursday, January 27 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:30 pm. All are welcome to meet directly at the cemetery.
