SERVICE RESCHEDULED
Betty J. (Vigeant) Dupree, 71, died peacefully at home in the presence of family on January 11, 2022 after a brief illness.
She leaves behind four children- twins Stephen D. Dupree of Bellevue, WA and Julie A. Hemeon of Pomfret, CT; Brian J. Dupree of Auburn, MA; and Christine M. Dupree of Hudson, NH; five grandchildren- twins Brian and James, Ethan, Sarah, and Melody; and nieces and nephews. She is survived by two sisters, Beverly LaPine of Spencer and Brenda Vigeant of Douglas. She was preceded in death by her brother Ronald Vigeant and her sister Bonnie Edwards.
Betty was born on April 14, 1950 in Worcester, a daughter of Lucien and Beatrice (Buteau) Vigeant. She graduated from Holy Name High School in Worcester and later earned a bachelor’s degree from Worcester State College, attending classes at night while working full-time and raising her four children. She worked as a grant accountant at UMass Medical School and as an implementation specialist for Tyler Technologies. She retired in 2014.
Betty was an active member of the United Church of Christ, Federated in Webster, where she served as a deacon. A lifelong learner, she took courses in history, culture, and politics through the WISE program at Assumption College. She had a passion for travel and visited Jerusalem, Costa Rica, Alaska, and the Grand Canyon. She enjoyed camping, hiking, cribbage, and spending time with her family. She especially loved watermelon, hugs, and the New England Patriots.
A memorial service will be held on SUNDAY, January 30, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. at the United Church of Christ, Federated, 4 Church Street, Webster MA. Masks are required; virtual attendance via Zoom is encouraged. Donations in Betty’s name may be made to Abby’s House, 52 High Street, Worcester, MA 01609. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street.
