It is with deep sorrow that we note the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jane Marie Theroux, on December 11, 2021 at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions in Palm Coast, FL. She was the wife of the late Leonard A. Theroux, who predeceased her in 1996.
Jane was born in Providence, RI, on August 1, 1926, the 5th child of the late John and Mary (McCaffery) Dunphy. She had lived in Glocester, RI before relocating to St. Augustine, FL in 1990, and then to Palm Coast in 2018.
Jane was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School in Providence, and was employed for more than 30 years as a Manager in the Package and Packing Department with General Electric Co. in Providence before retiring.
She devoutly attended services at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in St. Augustine on a daily basis. Her hobbies included swimming and reading.
Jane leaves two sons to mourn her loss, Leonard A. Theroux of Coventry, CT, and Robert E. Theroux and his wife Kathryn of Palm Coast, FL. She also leaves her grandchildren, Trent Theroux, Stephanie Mawdsley and Christine Moriarty; her great-grandchildren, Haley, Max and Anna Catherine; and a number of nephews and nieces. She was the sister of the late James, John, Virginia and Thomas Dunphy, and Hazel (Dunphy) Dennehy.
The family is especially grateful for the devoted support and assistance provided by our beloved cousin, Kathleen Grantstein, during the last year of our Mom’s life. We are blest by Kathy’s kindness and compassion.
Jane’s funeral will be held on January 26, 2022, with visitation at 9:30 AM at the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Smithfield, RI. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston, RI. Due to Covid-19 protocols and concerns, masks will be required.
