Josephine D. Tassoni, 86, of Rosewood Drive, Smithfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 18th in her home. She was the wife of the late Robert D. Tassoni. They had been married for 53 years.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late George and Crescenza (Frattarelli) Antonucci. She had lived in Smithfield for 60 years previously living in Providence. She had been a jewelry worker for many years before retiring.
She loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved going to the Smithfield Senior Center and playing Bingo. When she got company, she always smothered them with her PASTA and famous Meatballs, which will never be replicated!
She leaves her son Robert G. Tassoni and his wife Suzanne of Greenville. She was the grandmother of Robert “RJ” Tassoni and his girlfriend Erika and Amanda Tassoni and her fiancé Matt. She was the great-grandmother of Emily, Domenic, Noah, Zackery and Bradyn. She was the sister of Barbara Scapelli of Lincoln and Alfred Antonucci & his wife Barbara. She also leaves behind her sister-in-laws, Lucille Antonucci and Mary Antonucci. She was the mother of the late James J. Tassoni and sister of the late Anthony Antonucci, Valentine Antonucci and Irene Antonucci. Sister-in-law of the late Vico Scarpelli. She leaves behind her sister in law Anna Reo and Butch Costa-Mello who she spoke to on a daily basis. She had many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews who she talked about daily and cherished. Family meant a lot to her.
Josephine also left her devoted caregiver Marie DaSilva of Smithfield who worked with her on a daily basis giving her love, compassion, and nourishment.
Her funeral will be Friday at 10:30am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Smithfield. Visitation 9:30am to 10:30am. Burial will be private.
