John (Jack) Horigan passed away peacefully at home with his wife and good friends, after a very long courageous battle with cancer. Jack's homestead was in Canton MA and he spent many years living in Stoughton where he had his business, Mulch by the Yard.
Jack is survived by his forever soulmate and wife of many years, JoAnne (Tramentozzi) Horigan, His son, Gregory Daggett and his significant other Diane Aguiar of Johnston, RI. His father and
mother, both predeceased Jack, William Horigan and Anne Ball. His brother William of Maine, who is also predeceased and his sister Marie Horigan Fowler who resides in the family homestead in Canton. A couple of special nieces and nephews and many many friends.
Jack was well known in the local community, he sold bark mulch in the area for many years and was a respected business man. He loved mixing and throwing the piles of mulch and chips with the loader it was a great relaxation time for him. He enjoyed talking to the customer and making a difference with all his customers. He also enjoyed the art of making money.
Jack also ran heavy equipment for the MBTA, as he was a long standing Local 4 member. He was well respected and saved many an incident from happening, or fixed them as they happened with the backhoe. Known at the T as "THE HOE" he enjoyed all his days there and was happy to be an important part of the T, and the team he worked with. He so enjoyed the Sunday football parties watching his Patriots with family and friends, he remembered them as great days.
After retiring from the T, he and his wife moved to Pocasset where
they made many friends. Jack was just a great guy who all people could relate and enjoy.
Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Friday from 4-7 pm. Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton Saturday afternoon at 12:30. Burial private. Donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org.
