SPENCER: Wilfred E. Makynen, 73, of Elm St., died Saturday, Jan. 15 at Harrington Hospital, Webster. He leaves his son Craig A. Makynen of Brookfield, his granddaughter Olivia Jane Makynen of Virginia Beach, VA, his brother Michael Makynen and his wife Ellen of Hopkinton, his sister Sharon Howard and her companion Michael Kasper of Brookfield, several nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, the son of Raymond and Marjorie (Bassett) Makynen and graduated from St. John's High School class of 1966 and shortly after joined the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked as an assembler for 20 years at GF Wright Steel & Wire Company in Worcester before retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed trips to Vermont, camping and spending time with his family. He always looked forward to having his daily coffee with his aunt June Makynen. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 20 at 5:00 PM in the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Calling hours will precede the service from 3:00-5:00 PM. Due to Covid-19, the family suggests that masks be worn. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
