Dorothy G. (Kennedy) Sears, 94, of New Bedford passed away Sunday January 16, 2022 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Joseph H. Sears.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Francis and Catherine (Sullivan ) Kennedy, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Mrs. Sears was formerly employed as a top presser for Elco Dress Company until her retirement.
She is survived by her children, Thomas Sears, Cathy DeSouza, James Sears and his wife Donna, and Cheryl Pike and her husband Steven; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Theresa Viera, Kathleen Vachon, John F. Kennedy, and Francis Kennedy, and mother-in-law of the late Roxanne Sears, wife of Thomas, and Raymond DeSouza, husband of Cathy.
A private family burial service will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
