Carl O Nelson, of Medway, MA, entered the house of our Lord on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at the age of 90. He left behind his beloved wife of 68 years, Doris Nelson.
He was a loving Dad to Carla Tucker and her husband Bob of Medway and Glenn Nelson and his wife Joyce of Spencer. He was the best Papa to seven grandchildren, Joshua Tucker and his wife Lisa, Justin Tucker and his wife Jess, Jordan Tucker and his girlfriend Kara, Shane Nelson and his wife Giana, Hillary Nelson and her partner Jose, Erica Adix and her husband Michael and Elias Nelson. He was Pup to ten great-grandchildren.
He was a dear brother to Frederick Nelson of Hampton and the late Eleanor Smith, Esther Poulsen and Doris Councilman. He was Uncle Carl to many loved nieces and nephews.
Carl was born in Saugus MA in 1931 to the late Ralph and Arline Nelson. He graduated from Saugus High School and eventually lived in Plaistow, NH where he met the love of his life, Doris. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in History and while there he was an ROTC student. After graduation he entered the Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas and Fort Dix in New Jersey. He was honorably discharged in 1957.
He went to work for Raytheon in 1958 where he worked for 25 years before retiring in 1983 as a business manager. After retirement Carl and Doris spent the warmer months in New Durham, NH at their “camp” and the rest of the year in Venice Florida where they enjoyed their many friends and outdoor activities. Carl was a great fisherman and shared his love of fishing with his children and grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Plaistow Cemetery in Plaistow, N.H. with a celebration of Carl’s life luncheon to follow.
