Gilda D. “Villa” Hodgkins Lee, of Medford, formerly of Somerville, passed away on Saturday, January 15th. She was 87. Born and raised in Somerville, she was the cherished daughter of the late Marcelino and Carmen (Carcioffi) Villa.
Gilda loved spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren. She religiously attended every dance recital, singing competitions, plays and hockey games. Gilda was her grandchildren’s biggest fan. She was the epitome of a hockey mom and you could count on hearing her cheer them on from the stands. Even though her children were spread across the country she made sure she visited each and every one of them with frequent trips to Las Vegas, Tennessee, Niagara Falls, Atlantic City and Denver, just to name a few. When her children were younger they went camping every summer at Shady Point Campground where Gilda established many friendships which led to the creation of the “Shady Point Gang”. Gilda was a wonderful wife, a loving mother, the best Nee, caring sister and friend. She will be missed by all.
Gilda was the beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Lee and Richard Hodgkins. She was the devoted mother of Richard Hodgkins and his wife Judy of York, ME, Steven Hodgkins of Oahu, HI, Dale Hodgkins of Myrtle Beach, SC, Alan Hodgkins and his wife Jacqueline of North Billerica and the late Diane Goduti and her surviving husband Richard of Henderson, NV. She was the loving Nee of Angela, Danielle, Leighann, Joseph, Miranda and the late Phillip Goduti. She was the dear sister of Edward Villa and his wife Wilhelmina “Billy”, Anita Shaw and her husband Louis, and Carmen Gregory and her husband Bob. Gilda is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be celebrated in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Tuesday, February 1st at 6:30 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family from 3 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Gilda’s name to the American Lung Asc., 1661 Worcester Rd., Suite 301, Framingham, MA 01701.
