Lorraine A. (Shurilla) King, 78 of Hanson, passed away on January 12, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. Born in Boston on January 28, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Shurilla and Marie (Byrne) Shurilla.
Lorraine graduated from Weymouth High School in 1961 and went on to attend, Burdett College, where she graduated with an associate degree in bookkeeping. She spent 40 years as an office manager/bookkeeper at Side-Rite CO LLC.
Lorraine enjoyed volunteering her time at the Hanson Counsel on Aging and senior center. She loved to travel and go on cruises; she always enjoyed the water, swimming in the pool, or going to the beach and watching the ocean. She also enjoyed taking ceramics classes, going to the casino, and watching figure skating or her favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox. The most important thing in Lorraine’s life was her family and she loved spending time them. She adored her grandchildren and wanted to spend every moment with them. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and nana.
Lorraine was the devoted wife of David R. King of 51 years. She was the loving mother of Dawn-Marie Lewis of East Bridgewater and Pamela A. Hall (and husband Brian Hall) of East Bridgewater, loving sister to Ronald Shurilla of Connecticut. Loving nana of Alexander D. Hall, Samuel G. Hall, Conor J. Lewis, and Colleen M. Lewis.
All are welcome to calling hours on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from 5-7 PM at Blanchard Funeral Chapel on Plymouth St., Whitman, her funeral Mass on Thursday, January 27, at 11:00 AM at Holy Apostles Parish on Maquan St., Hanson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lorraine’s favorite charity, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
