Thomas O. Cotton, born Thomas J. Johnson and a longtime resident of Brockton, MA, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2022 at Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill, MA after a short illness.
Tom was born on July 19, 1958 in Birmingham, AL, son of the late Kenneth I. and Mary E. (McCormack) Johnson, both of Brockton, MA. Tom graduated from Brockton High School. He briefly attended Massachusetts School of Art in Boston.
Tom was an avid fine art painter and listener of classical music. He earned art scholarships and exhibited his work in several shows. He thoroughly enjoyed supporting Boston sports teams, especially the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.
His loving nature and disposition were most evident while he was a caregiver to both parents for over twenty years. He was totally devoted to them until their passing.
Tom is survived by his brother, Chris Johnson and his wife, Linda, of Naples, FL; Linnea Johnson of Brockton, MA; and Tracey Featherston of Clifton, TX as well as several nieces and nephews.
We recognize the multitude of persons who cared for Tom, particularly the last few weeks. This especially includes his sister, Linnea, and the staff at Blue Hills Rehabilitation Center.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charitable organization that treats and supports those afflicted with mental health issues, such as Old Colony Elder Services and National Alliance on Mental Illness.
