James F. "Jim""Jimmy" Ahern, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 82 years of age.
Jim was born in Boston on August 11, 1939, a son of the late James Ahern and Anne (Boland) Ahern. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated throughout the Boston Public School system. Jim enlisted into the United States Navy at the age of 17 on October 24, 1957 and served 10 years aboard the Valley Forge with courage and pride during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Quarter Master Third Class. Jim worked for several years as a bartender and cook at J.J. Donovan's in Faneuil Hall Market Place in Boston. He was dedicated to his family and especially enjoyed all the quality moments he spent with each one of his nieces and nephews, he was "The Good Guy".
Jim is the beloved son of the late James Ahern and Anne (Boland) Ahern. He is the devoted brother of Pat Harty and her late husband Bob, Anne Marie Whalen and her late husband Barry, Robert Ahern and his wife Ellen and especially devoted to his baby sister Edith "Sis" Ahern. He is the loving "Uncle Jimmy" to Bobby Harty, Kevin Harty, Karen Harty, Maryhelen Whelan, Eileen Harty Elaine Collins, Susan Clough, Denise D'Orio, Jay Whalen, Chris Whalen, R.J. Ahern, Ryan Ahern, Jenny Chalupa, Liz Rounds, the late Patti Harty and his 21 great nieces and great-nephews.
Jim's Funeral Services and burial will be private.
