Elizabeth "Betty" Gentile (Perrone) went to heaven on January 14th, 2022, her loving family was by her side. She was the beloved wife of Arthur A. Gentile and together they shared nearly 66 years of marriage. Born in Gaeta, Italy, Betty was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Francesca (Miele) Perrone.
Betty immigrated to the United States from Gaeta, Italy with her family at the age of 7 through Ellis Island. The youngest of 5 children eventually settling in Somerville. She attended St. Joseph's Parochial School in Somerville. She worked in data entry when she met the love of her life, Arthur at the Ocean View dance hall in Revere. Betty and Arthur moved to Woburn in 1961, started their family of 5 boys. Family meant everything to Betty especially her husband and children. Her children were involved in Woburn sports, there was no bigger cheer leader than Mom. She was always at a hockey rink or grassy field wearing the Black & Orange colors with pride. While raising her family, she worked at John Hancock Insurance Company and the Raytheon Missile Systems for thirty years until her retirement.
There are many great memories of holiday gatherings and picnics at the beach with all of her sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews. If it was with family, life was perfect. Later in life "Grammy" enjoyed time with her grandchildren growing up, attending all of their events, and watching her family expand.
