Patra Akrivoulis was born on August 24, 1931 in the small mountain village Karya Elassonas at the foothills of Mt. Olympus. She was the third child of Konstantinos and Katerini Axougas. She was raised with love by her parents along with her siblings Mary, John, Stamatoula, and Mike. They all worked hard to help with family chores in the village.
In 1958 she married Konstantinos Akrivoulis and shortly thereafter welcomed their first child Vasilios in 1959 followed by Christos in 1962. In 1966 Patra and Costas, along with their family, had the opportunity to emigrate to the United States and began to achieve their American Dream.
Life was very difficult for them as they started with nothing but the clothes they brought with them on the 7 day voyage aboard the SS Christoforo Colombo. Their wish was offering their children the opportunities they never had. They both struggled as children during wartime in Greece and they vowed to work hard at multiple jobs to provide their children with the education that they never received.
There was no stopping Patra when there was work to be done. She started working by cleaning houses and soon thereafter found a job at a switch manufacturing company. She dedicated herself and rose to managing new employees on the assembly line that were performing assembly tasks she once did. She would always rush home to make a home cooked meal for her family and did not lay to rest until the daily chores were complete.
She was always thinking of others, and frequently denied herself of material things in an effort to selflessly provide more for her family. She cherished the times that she managed to go to Greece with her family, or even spend a Saturday at Castle Island in the summer. She was always thankful, respectful and kind to those she knew.
Patra was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John and sister Mary. Survived by her husband of 64 years, Costas, her children Vasilios and Christos, and grandchildren Costas, Patricia, Anthi and Erin.
