On the afternoon of January 7th, 2022, around 1 p.m., the skies above summoned our loved one home. Our hearts were torn apart. Robert Russell Harris (Russ), unfortunately, passed away at the age of 78 from sudden cardiac arrest. He was born in Leadville, but relocated to Breckenridge, Colorado, as a youngster with his elder sister Alice (Meyers) and his parents Fred and Frances Harris. This is where he met the young, captivating waitress who worked next door that turned into his beloved partner of 56 years, Julie Harris. Two years after finishing his Navy service as a Seabee, he and his wife Julie uprooted to Ventura, California where they began their next chapter in life. As a team, they built and successfully maintained a multigenerational RV servicing company. Their greatest achievement, however, was the birth of their two daughters, Candace (Steven) and Sherry (Smith). Both girls stayed and created families of their own in Ventura making Russell a grandfather to 5 amazing grandchildren; Conner, Caylin, Carlee, Courtney, and Sydney. Russ was a family man, as anybody who had the pleasure of knowing him would attest. He was the kind of guy you could always rely on because he always showed up, no matter what the situation was. Russ had a heart of gold that was compassionate and generous to everyone he encountered. There wasn't a single day that he didn't have a smile on his face, informing everyone around that he had much to be happy about. If you were ever searching for Russ, you'd probably find him either hard at work on a new creative endeavor or out in the garden, planting more fruits and vegetables. The pain of this unanticipated loss can't be adequately expressed in words. The numerous roles he played in our lives as a family — husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend — will be sorely missed. Anyone who wishes to say their last goodbyes to him in person is invited to join the public viewing in honor of his life on January 22nd from 1-4 pm taking place at the below address. Arrangements are under the direction of Boyko & Reardon Telegraph Road Mortuary & Cremation, 15 Teloma Drive Ventura, CA.
“When Tomorrow Starts Without Me”
When tomorrow starts without me,
And I’m not there to see;
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me;
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you’ll miss me too.
So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I’m right here, in your heart.
