MENDEZ, Hilda We gained a special angel in heaven. Hilda Altragracia Mendez (Cruz Gomez) was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic on May 30, 1936. In her late teens she and her mother moved to the United States for a better life. She worked as a seamstress at a young age which led her to be the head seamstress for a famous Boston designer. She raised four children: daughters Judith Socorro Caraballo, Maria Teresa Aquino, Marjory Catalina Aquino, and son Victor Manuel Aquino. She also helped raised her younger sister and a handful of nephews. Hilda loved to learn new cultures, enjoyed traveling, dining out, cowboy movies, and listening to boleros music. What Hilda loved the most was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived her life to make them happy. She is survived by 12 grandchildren: Evi Wynns, Tiffany Wynns, Christina Ramirez, Jacqueline Castillero, Jessica Hopkins, Victor Aquino lll, Tanisha Ramirez, Alyzza Aquino, Krystal Paniagua, Ramon Ramirez, Emmanuel Aquino, and Juriely Reyes and over 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 sisters. The Lord created this marvelous lady which we all laughed, argued, cried, and hugged in life and now she will tell her amazing stories in heaven.
