Irma Ruth Martin, 78, of Enigma passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service will be held for Ms. Martin at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2022, at Fletcher Cemetery in Alapaha, where she will be laid to rest. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 17, 2022, at the graveside from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Born January 28, 1943, in Tifton, Ms. Martin was the daughter of the late Eston Martin and Irene Walker Martin. Before retiring, she was the bookkeeper at Horse Creek Winery in Cook county. She was a member of Enigma Congregational Christian Church. In her younger years, she enjoyed roller skating, dancing, basketball, water skiing, travel (anywhere), cutting grass, growing flowers plus ferns and caring for hummingbirds. She loved her family, fried catfish, the farm, God and church. She was a gregarious, kind and loving person who had a streak of determination and independence the size of Texas.
Ms. Martin is survived by one son, Donald Shaw Jr. of Alpharetta; one daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Dick McClung of Enigma; one sister, Jean Martin of Enigma; and three grandchildren, Taylor Shaw, Sara Parker Shaw and Guy McClung.
