John F. “Jack” Grimes
Retired Teamster for Local # 25
FREMONT, NH: John F. “Jack” Grimes, age 90, a resident of Fremont, NH, formerly of Tewksbury, MA, passed away at home in the care of his family and hospice on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Theresa L. (Carty) Grimes.
Born in Woburn on September 12, 1931, he was the son of the late John W. Grimes and the late Mary Gertrude (Coyne) Grimes.
Jack was raised in Woburn, He attended St. Charles Parochial School and graduated from Woburn High School.
In 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was awarded several decorations for his active-duty service including the Army Occupation Medal (Germany), the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a member of Teamster’s Local # 25 and worked as a truck driver for U.P.S. for 38 years.
Jack enjoyed puttering around his home, camping and boating at Lake Ossipee, and most of all he treasured time spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Gary T. Grimes, of Fremont, NH, John W. Grimes and his wife Joanne, of Hampstead, NH, Stephen F. Grimes and his wife Lisa, of Merrimacport, MA, Richard J. Grimes, of Stratham, NH, Karen Anne Scott and her husband Thomas, of Wolfeboro, NH, and Timothy D. Grimes and his wife Kimberly, of Dracut. He leaves ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to meet at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury on Saturday, Jan. 15th for his Funeral Mass. Masks required in church, per the Archdiocese of Boston. Interment will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Rockingham VNA & Hospice at www.rockinghamvna.org
