Annette Smith, 86, of Ventura, CA passed away peacefully at her home on December 16, 2021, just four short months after her husband Bill passed away. Annette was born on June 12, 1936 in Ashland, Ohio to Edward and Ethel Nelson.
Annette and Bill were married for 63 years. During their marriage, they moved frequently across the country for Bill’s job. They finally moved back to Ventura in 1993 when Bill retired.
Annette had many hobbies and talents. She was an avid golfer and bowler. She ran many bowling leagues at Wagon Wheel and Buena Lanes until knee surgery slowed her down in the last few years. She and Bill enjoyed their regular trips to Chumash.
During their stay in Bakersfield, Annette pursued her lifelong dream of obtaining her pilot’s license. Then to celebrate her 75th birthday, she did a tandem skydive jump. She was an avid seamstress and created many pageant dresses for her granddaughter and Halloween costumes for her grandsons.
Annette is survived by her sister Donna Eller of Florida; her sons Deric (Carol) and Edward Guy. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Bryan (Danielle), Brett, Robert (Glen), and Katelyn Smith, and great-grandchildren Max, Astrid, and Everett Smith. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Bill, her brothers Cloyd and Johnny Nelson; sister Marie Gregory; son, Chip and grandson, Anthony.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the caretakers and hospice workers from Access TLC for their dedicated care during her last few months.
