WORCESTER__Phyllis G. (Flanagan) Szklarz, beloved matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully, living independently in her home, at 97 years young.
She is survived by her three devoted children, who loved her dearly: Donna M. (Norman) Anger, of Sutton, Judith A. (Kenneth) Fritz, of Philadelphia, and James G. (Marcia Green) Sklarz, of Worcester. She was a proud “Nanna” to her seven grandchildren: Jeffrey D. Anger (Karen Beaupre), Kristine Anger Paquette, Daniel J. (Jennifer) Fritz, Melissa A. (Ian) Broderick, Heather A. (Colin) Broderick, Ashley (Charles) Margossian, and Adam Sklarz; and fifteen great-grandchildren: Ryan (Stephanie) Anger, Joshua (Bethany Peterson) Anger, and Sydney Anger (Bryan Dupre), Allie and Meghan Paquette, Tyler and Madison Anger (and their mother, Jennifer), Kyle, Chase and Scott Fritz, Declan and Finley Broderick, Payton and Nolan Broderick, and Aurora Sklarz, each of whom believed they were her favorite.
Phyllis never wavered in her Catholic faith, despite tragically losing her husband Chester F. Szklarz in 1974, and her grandson Brian N. Anger, in September 2021. She was predeceased by her parents, Denis and Jenny Flanagan, and her brother, James. She was active at Ascension School and Church until its closing, when she found a new church home at St. John’s. She passed while watching mass on television and praying The Rosary. Phyllis was known for her quick wit, sense of humor, and ability to provide the appropriate song lyric for every occasion.
