David F. "Hoppy" Austin 66, of Franklin, passed away peacefully, Monday January 10, 2022 at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, following a illness. He was the beloved husband of Shirley J. (Palladini) Austin, with whom he shared 25 years of marriage.
Born July 22, 1955, in Woonsocket, RI, a son of Linda J. (Olson) Austin and the late Donald F. Austin, he was a longtime Franklin resident.
He was raised and educated in Franklin, and was a graduate of Franklin High School. David worked as a truck driver for Clark Cutler McDermott and later for Mobile Excavating.
Hoppy enjoyed horseshoes and watching all the New England sports teams.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Daniel Austin and his wife Amanda of Brookfield and his grandchildren, Toby, Owen, Georgeann and Kellie Austin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Wednesday January 19th, in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. from 5-7PM.
A funeral service will follow at 7PM.
His burial will take place Thursday in St. Mary's Cemetery, Franklin at 12 noon.
