Mr. Richard J. Ashton, 70, of Andover, Massachusetts, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
Rick was born on October 28, 1951 to Richard W. and Helen (Horgan) Ashton in Methuen. He was a lifelong resident of Andover and proud of his Andover heritage. Rick was a lifelong communicant of St. Augustine Church and was a graduate of St. Augustine School. He graduated from the Lawrence Vocational School with a focus on Drafting/PC/Design. Rick served in the Army National Guard from 1970 through 1976 and earned his bachelor's degree in business from Southern New Hampshire University. Rick worked as a PC Designer until his retirement at the age of 62. After retirement, he worked for Dana Gould Landscaping. Rick then developed his own landscaping clients and plowed for the Town of Andover. He will be sorely missed by his plow buddies, Bill Murphy and Bill Hickey. Rick enjoyed traveling, fishing, kayaking and was an avid reader.
Rick will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Cindee, son; Ryan and his wife Becky Ashton, daughter; Heather Ashton and her partner Chris McCarthy, two adorable grandsons; Ben and Charlie, sister; Geri and her husband Dave and brothers; Dave and his wife Lorna and Brian and his wife Cindy.
Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Saturday, January 15, 2022, from 10 AM to 1 PM. All other services will be private.
