Kenney, Peter of Needham, 82, January 9, 2022. Peter was the ideal patriarch. Sensitive, loving, down-to-earth, and good-humored, he brought light and joy to all.
Peter was a graduate of Andover Academy and then Brown University, and he excelled at hockey for both. Upon graduation, Peter began his successful career in sales and marketing at Gillette, and his strong work ethic and unlimited curiosity made him an early hire at Braintree Labs. Over the course of 30 years, Peter mentored countless colleagues, and became instrumental to his company’s success and inclusive culture. Peter retired from Braintree Labs as the Executive Vice President in Sales and Marketing in 2016, but he continued to learn and influence the lives of others. He became an active participant at the Center at the Heights, taking several classes each semester while enjoying the Center’s many social opportunities.
But, for all his accomplishments, Peter’s pride and joy was his family. Every decision he made, every opportunity he had, Peter prioritized his family. He and his wife of 42 years, Chris (Etro), taught through example, providing their children and grandchildren with unconditional love and boundless support. Peter’s children Frank, Michael, Betsy (Hoyt), and Kathy (Fritz) are eternally grateful for their dad’s example and his encouragement of all their endeavors. Peter’s many grandchildren (Anna, Sabrina, Caroline, Samantha, Ethan, Josie, Emmeline, and Wesley) are grateful for his dedication, whether as a spectator at their athletic and musical pursuits, or an affectionate listener to their lively confidences. Fortunately, his family was not the only ones to feel the Peter Kenney effect. Anyone who invited him into their lives experienced the same genuine curiosity, thoughtful ideas, and unwavering support that Peter poured out.
