Obituary

CHICOPEE – Virginia A. “Ginger” (Vraibel) Paquette, 89, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 8, 2022. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in New York, NY on May 11, 1932, a beloved daughter of the late Edward and Ann (Weirminski) Vraibel. She was raised in New York, graduated John Adams High School in New York City and had moved to Westfield in 1954 before moving to Chicopee in 1967 where she lived most of the remainder of her life. She furthered her education and attended Holyoke Community College. Upon her graduation, she was employed as a Private Secretary to an actor’s agent at the ABC Network and later worked as a Private Secretary at IBM and Loew’s International. She was a loving wife and mother to her late husband and her five loving children. She enjoyed painting, cooking, history, going on picnics, traveling, ceramics, upholstering, bird watching and most especially enjoyed a lifetime of reading. She also enjoyed perusing bookstores, visiting art galleries and antiquing. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Gerald G. Paquette, Sr. who was Called Home on August 3, 2017. They were married on July 31, 1954 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield and were blessed with over 63 years of happiness together. She leaves her five loving children, Laura A. Paquette of South Hadley, Richard G. Paquette and his wife, Elaine, of Coventry, CT, Michael G. Paquette and his wife, Dung Le, of Cheshire, CT, Marianne M. Gregersen of Chicopee and Gerald G. Paquette, Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Southampton; her 11 cherished grandchildren, Eric R. Paquette and his partner, Gabbi, Rachel A. Morin and her husband, Justin, Cecilia C. Edwards and her husband, Joe, Rebecca Nguyen and her partner, Gerret, Christina Nguyen, Donald R. Paquette and his partner, Becky, Joseph D. Paquette, Conor B. Gregersen, Arren R. Gregersen, Isabelle L. Paquette and her partner, Alex, and Owen E. Paquette; her dear first cousin and lifelong friend, Irene Hadley of Westfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended members of the Paquette family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her loving son in law, Brian F. Gregersen who was Called Home on March 14, 2016; her cherished granddaughter, Adrienne B. “Age” Paquette who was Called Home on August 2, 2016; and her dear sister, Jeanette Enko and her husband, Douglas. Her family will receive friends on Monday, January 17, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear. Her family and friends are invited to attend a Committal Service on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
