Obituary

TEWKSBURY: Joan M. (McLaughlin) Tremlett, age 86, a resident of Tewksbury for 47 years, passed away at her home in the care of her family on Thursday, December 30, 2021.

Born in Boston on May 24, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John McLaughlin and the late Mary (Greene) McLaughlin.

Joan was raised in South Boston and graduated from South Boston High School in 1952.

After High School she worked for John Hancock, where she met her future husband, Ray. They were married on August 29, 1959. Ray passed away on December 30, 2006.

In 1974, they moved to Tewksbury where they raised their four sons. She and her husband Ray could be seen at the many sporting events of their boys. She was also one of the 50 Yard Line Mothers, who could be seen at the Tewksbury Redmen football games for many years.

Joan was employed by Advanced Automation Associates of Billerica and the ICA Company of Boston until her retirement in 1999.

After her husband’s passing, she dedicated much of her life to volunteering at the Elks in town. She was an Honorary Life Member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks # 2070, and in 2008 received the honor of Elk of the Year as well as Officer of the Year. She also Volunteered delivering for Meals on Wheels.

Joan enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Tewksbury Country Club Golf League. In addition, she enjoyed bowling at the Brunswick Lanes in Lowell and Wamesit Lanes in Tewksbury.

Joan was the mother of Raymond Tremlett, III and his wife Shari (Stephen), of Belmont, NH, Scott Tremlett and his wife Heidi (Popp), of Pittsfield, Patrick “Boo” Tremlett, of Lowell, and the late Douglas Tremlett and his surviving wife Barb, who resides in St. Marten. She leaves ten grandchildren, Amanda, Raymond IV, Cassandra, Keith, Rachael, Liam, Lauren, Kelsey, Sean, and Morgan Tremlett. Joan was the sister of Janice Higgins, with whom she resided, of Tewksbury, and the late Daniel McLaughlin.

Family and friends are invited to her Life Celebration on Saturday, June 25, from 1-5 p.m. at the Tewksbury Elks, 777 South St., Tewksbury, MA. Private interment of her ashes was at Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree.
