WEBSTER – Sithideth “Sid” Phouthavong, 59, died Sunday, January 9, 2022 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester due to complications of Covid-19.
He leaves his parents, Thongphang and Soth (Vongphakdy) Phouthavong of Worcester; 2 brothers, Phet Phouthavong and Sang Phouthavong both of Worcester; 4 sisters, Sara Phouthavong of Webster, Phoun “Pat” Vaillancourt and her husband Daniel of Oxford, Thonekham Phouthavong of Worcester and Sounsano Tetzman of Hawaii; many nephews and nieces.
He was born on March 16, 1962 in Vientaine, Laos and escaped to a refugee camp in Thailand in 1977. He and his family emigrated to Worcester in 1979 through the sponsorship of Catholic Charities. He recently moved to Webster to live with his sister and caretaker, Sara.
Mr. Phouthavong worked as an assembler in the plastics industry before retiring due to a disability. He was a member of the Loatian Community in Worcester. He enjoyed fishing.
The family will observe the 100 Days Ceremony on April 16, 2022at the Laos Temple, Wat Lau Buddhovath, 88 Limerock Road, Smithfield, Rhode Island. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
