Gary Leon Holder, 78 years old of Ventura, CA. Gary was born in Bakersfield to Leon and Margaret Holder. Moving to Ventura at age 14.
On January 7, 2022 , at home surrounded by loved ones, our dad, grandpa and great grandpa went to his heavenly home to be with our Lord and Savior.
He is preceded in death by his son Ron, parents Leon Holder and Margaret Davison.
Gary is survived by wife Margie, with whom the Lord blessed with nearly 61 years of marriage, daughters Victoria and Angela , and son-in-law Martin. Six grandchildren: Melissa, Jen, Jason, Jake, Ashley and Cheyanne. To eleven great grandchildren: Cody, Juston, Ashlee, Gwen, Kyliee , twins Dylan and Aaron, Degan, Kaden, Colton, and Nova he was their “Pa”.
He enjoyed family gatherings as well as hunting, and fishing with family.
He was a very patriotic man who excelled in marksmanship while proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran.
In his last hours he was able to hear his favorite songs Amazing Grace and the Marine Corps Hymn, performed live on bagpipes.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Sister Servants of Mary, his wonderful care team as well as his immediate family for the care and support which surrounded him.
Pa, If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. You were a strong pilar of our family and our lives. Your smiling face, strength and wisdom will forever be in our hearts. Until we meet again.
Rosary will be held at 7 pm Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 757 East Main St., Ventura. Mass will be held at San Buenaventura Mission, Ventura, CA at 10 am Friday, January 14, 2022. Burial will be Saturday January 15, 2022 in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
