WESTPORT…Charles F. Joerres, 84, of Westport passed away January 8, 2022, at Massachusetts General Hospital, following a long illness.
He was the loving husband of Anne M. (Duarte) Joerres with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, he was a son of the late William O. and Olga (Seniow) Joerres.
Mr. Joerres was a man of many talents. In his early years he spent summers as a Head Lifeguard at Horseneck beach, worked as a Corrections Officer at the Old Colony Correctional Center before moving on to own and operate the Joerres Tree Company. In his later years, he joined the maintenance department at Charlton Memorial Hospital until he retired.
He also had many hobbies and interests that included becoming an accomplished Taxidermist, riding his Harley all over the East Coast, and membership within the New Bedford Boy Scouts as an Eagle Scout and Troop Leader. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family.
Along with his wife, survivors include his children: Kevin M. Joerres and his wife Cindy of Somerset, MA, Jarman M. Joerres and his wife Laura of Sterling, MA, and Jennifer of CA; his grandchildren: Billy, Dylan, Jack, Ava and Angelina; his great grandson: Landon along with many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William Joerres.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 9 AM from the Boyko Memorial Funeral Home, 709 Broadway Fall River, MA 02724 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Anthony of the Desert Church, 300 North Eastern Ave. Fall River, MA 02723. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 – 7 PM.
