WOBURN: John K. Connolly, age 79, recently of Peabody, formerly of Tewksbury and Woburn, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Friday, January 7, 2022.
He was the beloved husband of Kathleen J. (Antonucci) Connolly, with whom he celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on October 22.
Born in Woburn on March 15, 1942, he was the son of the late Michael and Helen (Flaherty) Connolly.
John was raised in Woburn, attended Woburn schools and graduated from Woburn High School.
In 1964, he enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard and served for 6 years. He was awarded the Sharpshooter Badge with Bar and the Marksman Badge with Bar.
John worked for the Woburn Times Newspaper Company and the Malden Evening News for several years until founding and operating his rug cleaning business.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed spending summer vacations at Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Donna DiGiovanni and her husband Robert, Michael Connolly and his partner Gabriel Shames, and Diane Antippas and her husband Frank: two grandchildren, Thomas and Julia DiGiovanni. He was the brother of Marie Connolly, Robert Connolly and the late Rev. Edward Connolly and Francis Connolly. He leaves several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Jan. 12, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Thursday, Jan. 13, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Dorothy’s Church, cor. of Main & Harnden Sts., Rte. 38, Wilmington.
