Obituary

Elaine F. (Perkins) Harte (February 2, 1939 – January 7, 2022) a long time resident of Abington, passed peacefully surrounded by her family after a short battle with lung cancer. Elaine was predeceased by her husband Charles F. Harte Jr. and her parents Jesse C. Perkins and Lillian H. Perkins, son Charles G. Harte, daughter-in-law Lauretta Burrows Harte and first husband/father of her children Paul Kossowski. She is also predeceased by her siblings Richard Perkins, Robert Perkins, Marion Perkins and Lillian (Perkins) Hammond.

Elaine is survived by her children Denise (Duane) Billheimer, Christopher Harte (Sandra), Curtis Harte, Diane Hoal (Mark Bove), Michael Kossowski (Kat Howren), Cindy Case, and Jennifer Kossowski (Ryan Abrams). Mrs. Harte is also survived by many grandchildren Paul C. Hoal, Christopher L. Harte Jr. (Shannon); Ryan G. Harte (Jessica); Nigel Case, William Case, Benjamin Curran, Joanne Curran, Brandon Bove (Jessica Waldrop); Alex Bove; and great grand-daughter Shay Harte. Elaine was the youngest of many siblings including Peggy (Wayne) Allum. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Mrs. Harte grew up in Middleboro and graduated from Middleboro High School where she was crowned Miss Credit Union of Southeastern Massachusetts in 1958. She was an active member of the Abington VFW Auxiliary #5737 for over 50 years and participated as a member of the Auxiliary marching unit and the Auxiliary Color Guard that traveled across the state for competitions. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary of Abington. Elaine loved the Red Sox and never missed watching a game. Mrs. Harte retired from Dugmore and Duncan where she worked in the accounting department.

A visitation will be held at Blanchard’s Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Plymouth Street, Whitman on Wednesday January 12th from 4 – 7pm (masks required). Funeral service will be at Blanchard’s Funeral Chapel on Thursday January 13th at 10am followed by interment at Mount Vernon Cemetery.
