Phyllis was born in Quincy MA. Daughter of the late Giovannina “Jennie” (Comoletti) and Phillips Donnell and loving sister to the late Andrea and Phillip. She spent the first decade of her life in Portsmouth, VA while her father was in the Navy before the family returned to live in Quincy, MA.
Phyllis graduated from Quincy High School in 1964. She met the love of her life and eventual husband, Albert, while she was a sophomore, and he was a senior. Phyllis went on to attend Quincy Beauty Academy to become a hairstylist. She worked as a hairstylist and a bank teller before getting married.
Phyllis began her life as wife and mother building a family home in Quincy, Weymouth, and eventually Abington where she resided until her death. Phyllis worked for many years at Bradlees and later as maternity concierge at South Shore Hospital. Phyllis loved giving tours of the maternity unit to expecting parents while offering advice.
Phyllis prided herself as a mother and dedicated Nana. She attended every school event, sporting game, and performance. Phyllis provided unconditional love and support to her family throughout her life. Phyllis enjoyed being a grandmother the most in life to her five grandchildren. She kept track of every detail of their lives and was most happy laughing and joking with them.
Phyllis was a master cook and perfected many family recipes from her large extended Italian family–her sauce is legendary. She loved to travel. She and her husband took their family on many vacations. In later years, they traveled to many locations including Japan and Italy, a dream for the both of them. Phyllis and two life-long girlfriends, “The Golden Girls” made a yearly trip together to different locations across the US and Canada.
Phyllis loved music of all kinds, particularly Broadway musicals, tenor singers, and oldies from her youth. Phyllis enjoyed crocheting, coloring books, touring local restaurants for the best lobster roll with a beloved friend, and sitting with her dogs Maggie and Coco Puff while watching her favorite shows.
Her final days were filled with love, stories and reminiscing, and listening to her favorite music. It brings her family joy to know that her final days were surrounded by the things and people she loved most in life and that she is now reunited with family and friends in heaven.
