HOLLIS- Charles “Chuck” Merritt Bartlett, age 82, passed away on Jan. 5, 2022, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Scarborough.
He was born on Dec. 29, 1939, Biddeford, the son of the late Archie L. Bartlett and Lois M. (Hill) Bartlett. He was raised in Kennebunk by his grandmother, Nellie Bartlett. After graduating from Kennebunk High School in 1958, he joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served for five years.
He married Christine Roberts in 1966.
Chuck worked many jobs mostly in maintenance over the years. He was happy working on anything mechanical and loved inventing things. He had a great voice and enjoyed singing at church and at Country Jamborees at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was an Assistant Scoutmaster when his boys were involved in Scouting – this was something he really enjoyed.
He was a member of the American Legion in Standish, Post #128.
Being with his family meant so much to him.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Christine, their two sons, Steven Bartlett and his fiancé Mindy of Hollis and Eric Bartlett and his wife Missy of Buxton, and his two daughters who live in England, Debbie Churchill and her husband Kevin, Tracey Siever and her husband David. He is also survived by a brother- Jon Bartlett of Buxton, nine grandchildren, Isabel, Greta, Bethany, Colby, David, Jason, Matthew, Ashley, and Cameron, and four great grandchildren.
A graveside service with USAF Honors will be held on Saturday May 7 at 11 AM at Meeting House Hill Cemetery in Hollis.
