WEBSTER - Roger J. Berthiaume, 84, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2022.
He was the son of the late Lionel and Germaine (Morgan) Berthiaume.
He leaves 5 sons, Barry and his wife Laurie of Webster, Roy and his wife Linda of Worcester, Danny of Thompson, CT, Mark and his wife Kirsten of Dudley, and Brian and his wife Kim of Webster; his brother Ronald and his wife Betty of Falmouth; 9 grandchildren, Barry Jr. and Kayla, Lauren, Tommy and Jillian, Johnny, Jack, Drew, and Morgan; 6 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Richard.
Roger graduated from Bartlett High School in 1955 and from Fitchburg State College in l959 and lived in Webster for most of his life. He worked as a teacher for 25 years and then followed his passion for cooking by owning and operating the Continental Restaurant in Quinebaug, CT. He retired at age 75, finishing his working career practicing his trade and doing design work for Atlas Box and Crate in Sutton.
He was an avid sports fan following the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics. In his youth, he played football and baseball and went on to officiate both sports for over 20 years. He enjoyed family gatherings, golfing, country music, dancing, Polkas, York Beach, the Mohawks and his regular get-togethers with his friends from the class of ’55.
A celebration of his life and burial will be held privately at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street.
