Rosalia “Suluzza” (LiCavoli) Aluia of Somerville, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at 95 on January 4th, 2022 with her family around her. Born in Terrasini, Sicily on June 11, 1926 to loving parents, Rosalia and Faro LiCavoli, Rosalia was the sixth of seven children: Mercurio, Anna, Angela, Rosina, Maria Grazia and her surviving sister Pierina.
In December, 1954 osalia married Antonino (Nino) Aluia. They had four children who gave her great pleasure: Agnes and her husband Randy Meirowitz, Vito and his wife Kathy (Desmond), Anthony “Fred” and his wife Kathy (Gearhart), and Joseph and his wife Carry (Lang). Her nine grandchildren brought Rosalia much joy in life: Michael, Rebecca, Viviana, Andreas, Rosella, Isabel, Nino, Sam, and Marcus.
Known for her handmade aprons, biscotti, and chicken cutlets, she enjoyed feeding people and welcomed everyone to her table. Rosalia loved visiting her sisters, nieces, and nephews in Hamilton, Ontario and San Pedro, California. Her deep affection for family and friends is reciprocated by those who continue to preserve her memory.
There will be a private service at the graveside for immediate family. The family will have a mass and celebration of life in the summer when we are all able to gather again.
