Carolina Alicia Martinez, 57, of Ventura, Ca, passed away on Jan. 1, 2022 in her home with her entire family surrounding her after a courageous battle with stage IV uterine cancer. Carolina, a lover of electric blue, elephants, and images of suns, moons, and stars was born in Port Hueneme to Maria Rodriguez Martinez on Feb. 4, 1964. She went to Ventura High School and graduated in 1982 and went on to earn a bachelor degree in Sociology from California State University of Northridge. In life, she enjoyed concerts, hikes, traveling especially around California’s Bay Area, spending lots of time with her grandchildren and family, dancing, meeting people, meditating, reiki and spontaneous adventures! She didn't drink often, but when she did she enjoyed tequila sunrises that inevitably led her to speak spanish! She would play Loteria at holiday parties with a margarita in hand and a pocket full of winnings! She was incredibly clever, an amazing problem solver, fun to hang out with, and the most dedicated and adoring mother we could have asked for.
Carolina is survived by her siblings Rose Mary Martinez, 56, and Robert Martinez, 58, of Ventura. Her former partner and later friend Ray Anthony Oliver, 61, of Ventura. Her daughters and their spouses, Belinda Oliver Huizar, 34, and Julio Ceasar Huizar, 42, of Santa Paula and Nicole Oliver Lahav, 31, and Liron Oliver Lahav, 36, of San Francisco. Her grandchildren Sofia, 14, Emily, 12, and Noé Huizar-Oliver, 3, of Santa Paula. And her grand-cat-children, Lillian Blue and Bagheera. She is preceded in death by her mother, Maria Rodriguez Martinez ('05).
In lieu of flowers, Carolina would hope that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone in need in her name. Carolina would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. She is loved and will be sorely missed.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday evening January 14, 2022 from 5 to 8pm in the BOYKO & REARDON TELEGRAPH ROAD MORTUARY & CREMATION, 15 Teloma Drive Ventura, where a Most Holy Rosary will be recited by Fr.
