Alfredo Gamez, 82, of Miami, FL, passed away on January 3, 2022.
Alfredo was born on December 12, 1939 to Alfredo and Maria Gamez in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba. He was raised in Sancti Spiritus until the age of 10 and then moved with his family to Havana, Cuba.
Alfredo fled Cuba and arrived in the United States in 1962. He worked for a short time in Florida before moving to Boston, Massachusetts. After completing his studies at Northeastern University, he worked as an accountant for American Express as well as other large, Boston-based companies. Although he held a full time job, he also pursued other interests including owning an ice cream shop in the early 1980’s with his lifelong friend, Ergo Gonzalez. He continued to live and work in the Boston area until 1992, when he moved to Miami, Florida.
Alfredo continued in his entrepreneurial pursuits and opened a Pizzeria Uno in a suburb of Florida. After a few years, he moved on from the pizza business and spent some of his time volunteering at a hospice center. He was also an active and faithful member at his local church.
Alfredo spent his free time traveling, enjoying food and wine and time spent with good friends. He was known for his great sense of humor, his kindness and generosity to all he met, the joy he had for life and the deep love he bestowed to his family and friends.
Alfredo was predeceased by his sister, Elsa Gamez.
Devoted brother of Esther Suarez and her husband, Robert of Bellingham. Beloved Uncle of Esther Hogan of Franklin, Anne Hardee of Warwick, RI and Linda Delea of Wellesley. Loving great uncle to Amanda Hardee, James, Hannah and Samuel Hogan and Carter Delea.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass Tuesday January 11th, in St. Mary's Church, 1 Church Square Franklin at 11AM. To view the Mass stmarysfranklin.org
