SPRINGFIELD - Brenda L. DeFilio, 61, of the Forest Park section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in East Haven, Connecticut on March 16, 1960, a beloved daughter of Pearl M. (Derosia) DeFilio of Springfield and the late Luigi DeFilio. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from Springfield Technical High School and had lived in Springfield most of her life. She was employed for many years as a Massachusetts State Auto Inspector at the Lyndale Garage in Springfield. During her leisure time, she enjoyed making jewelry and was known as a jack of all trades. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. In addition to her mother, she leaves her loving son, Louis R. "Louie" Brown and his companion, Nikki Wheeler, of Springfield; her beloved companion, Paul J. Pappelardo of East Longmeadow; her dear sister, Bonnie Dias of Ludlow; her dear niece and nephew, Audra and Alan Dias of Ludlow; her dear grand niece, Rosalia; and her many dear cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 4 p.m.). Masks are required for her services. Her burial will be private.
