Anna May Riminiscenza (Gigante) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on New Year’s Day. She was 92. Born and raised in Boston’s West End, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Lucille (Salamone) Gigante. A proud graduate of Brandeis High School and enjoyed working as a book keeper with the Carr Plumbing Co. formerly on Causeway St. in Boston. Anna May and her late husband Bingy settled in Medford with their young children over 63 years ago. Anna May was a devout Catholic, and was very active at St. Francis of Assisi parish in Medford. There, for many years, she was a member of the Mother’s Club, volunteered at the parish school and at the church. Since she was a child of two years old, Anna May had a talent for the piano. She had a deep passion for music and played throughout her life. She often entertained at church and charitable events. Anna May was devoted to her family and also enjoyed many deep and life-long friendships.
The beloved wife of the late James A. “Bingy” Riminiscenza, Anna May was a devoted mother to James P. “Rico” Riminiscenza of Medford, and Virginia Barrows and her husband Thomas of Medford. She was a loving grandmother to Jillian Barrows. Anna May was a dear sister to Dorothy Alonardo, Loretta Papa, Jannine Ellis and the late Marie Giuffre, Arlene Settipane, Angela Toscano, John Gigante and James Gigante. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Funeral services were held privately for Anna May. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Anna May to St. Francis Church, c/o Mary Queen of Peace Parish, 118 High St., Medford, MA 02155.
