Sarah E. Hamilton, 39, of Londonderry, NH passed away on Monday January 3, 2022 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH following a courageous battle with cancer. Sarah was born in Nashua, NH on April 28, 1982, a daughter of Edmond and Linda (Koloc) O’Keefe. She had resided in Londonderry since 2016, formerly living in Manchester.
Sarah will be remembered for many things by those who knew her best - an animal lover, talented photographer, star athlete, detail-oriented leader of student residencies at Southern New Hampshire University, and an environmentalist. But mostly, she was a fun, caring, and loving mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend to so many.
Sarah was grateful for the many wonderful memories she carried with her through the years. She often described a “perfect childhood” where she spent countless days playing with her sister Rebecca who she considered her best friend, playing tennis with her family, watching mom’s softball games, and having dad coach her various sports teams. She excelled in softball, volleyball, and tennis where she led teams to multiple state championships and ranked second in New England in doubles tennis while in high school. Her personal values were strongly influenced through these experiences, which she’s made sure to instil in her own daughters throughout their lives.
Sarah was proud to have traveled the world during a Semester at Sea during her senior year at the University of New Hampshire. She spent four months traveling across the globe, including stops in Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Tanzania, South Africa, Brazil and Cuba. This was an experience like none other in her life, meeting people across different cultures, adventuring with new friends, and gaining a new appreciation for the many gifts she had in her own life.
Most recently, Sarah was focused on her daughters, Ashley and Emily. She loved them fiercely, demonstrating incredible patience and kindness as she seeked to provide them with a childhood similar to the one she loved so dearly. She was so proud of their accomplishments in school and sports, but even more so as kind, compassionate, and very silly young ladies.
She is survived by her husband, Corey Hamilton of Londonderry, two daughters, Ashley and Emily Hamilton, both of Londonderry, her parents of Hudson, NH, her sister, Rebecca Lauria of Westford, MA, niece and nephew Anna and Jordan of Westford, MA, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Following cremation, a small private memorial service will be held by the family in order to limit the risk of Covid exposure. A Celebration of Life is being planned to remember Sarah with a larger group of friends and relatives in the Spring of 2022. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that people make donations to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute to help find a cure for cancer.
