Rosalia M. Cammarata, 96, of West Roxbury, MA, passed away peacefully on December 31st,2021 in the loving presence of her family.
Rosalia was born on May 12, 1925, to Maria and Joseph Cammarata in Boston, MA. She graduated from Somerville High School in 1942. She was accepted into architecture school, but due to family circumstances was unable to attend.
In 1946 she met the love of her life Melchiorre (Michael) Cammarata, they wed in 1947, and spent the next 54 years building a beautiful life including 3 children - Rosalie, Anna, and Michael.
Rosalia was a seamstress creating beautiful clothing for herself and her family and friends. She worked briefly for the IRS and the Federal Reserve Bank and in her later years worked in a nursing facility supporting elder care. Her primary passion became her home where she cared lovingly for her family supporting each through the peaks and valleys of their lives.
Rosalia was an avid crafter - most proficient in crocheting - creating over 400 afghans in her lifetime as gifts for those she loved. She will be remembered by most for her delicious Italian cooking and baking. She and Mike loved to travel back to Sicily where many of their extended family remain. But she was happiest in the arms of her beloved Mike - on the dance floor. She will be dearly missed.
Rosalie was predeceased by her husband Melchiorre Cammarata and her daughter Anna Helen Cammarata. She is survived by her daughter Rosalie Cammarata-Hughes and husband Joseph Hughes, of Walpole MA, their daughter Danielle Kruger and her husband Marc of Bridgewater, MA, and great-grandchildren Henry and Owen. She is also survived by her son Michael, two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation Hours will be January 7, 2022 from 9:30 to 11 am followed by a funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church at 11:30 am. Burial to follow.
