PORRECA, JOHN PAUL of Everett passed away peacefully on December 29, 2021 at the age of 79 surrounded by his family.
Beloved husband to Beatrice ‘Bonnie’ Porreca (Holling). Son of the late Guido and Carmella Porreca. Lifelong friend of Marie Porreca (Caruso) of Somerville. Loving father of John and his wife Jill of Methuen, Joseph of Somerville, Susan Burke of New Mexico, the late David Holling of New Jersey, and James Holling and his wife Sheri of Florida. Brother of Michael and his wife Diane of Winthrop. Grandfather to Kyra, Adin, Ryan and Emily; and uncle to niece Leslie and nephew David.
John served his country during the Vietnam War as a Seabee (MCB11 68-69) and later enjoyed a long career as a plumber. John had a wide circle of friends, many of whom he and Bonnie celebrated with at Eastover during its heyday. “The Silver Fox” loved dancing, trips to Foxwoods and talking American hot rods and muscle cars. He put a smile on everyone’s face whenever he was present.
The family is respecting John’s request for a private burial and wishes everyone to remember him with a smile.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New England Center and Home for Veterans - a charity that was close to John’s heart.
