Laura May (Bettencourt) Rich, 66, of New Bedford died January 1, 2022 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Manuel S. and Etta M. (Haskell) Bettencourt, she lived in new Bedford most of her life.
She was formerly employed as a secretary with the New Bedford School Department, worked Bingo at Foxwoods, was a cashier at Walmart, was a nightshift supervisor at Dunkin Donuts and was a waitress at the Crystal Cafe.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Lisa Defino and Christy Brasill and her husband Steven; a brother, David Niles; a sister, Samantha Smith; 9 grandchildren, Amber, Brittany, Tyler, Justin, Cody, Cody, Veronica, Julie and Todd; 4 great-grandchildren, Sakari, Leilah, Armani, Jaydin and Delilah; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Stephen Defino, Jr.
