Obituary

Beverly Jean Stevens, 87, passed away on December 30, 2021 surrounded by family. She was born to Alfred Santi Veratti and Elsie Elizabeth Veratti (Lunardini) on October 16, 1934 in Springfield, MA.

Beverly graduated from Commerce High School and was a retail associate at Steigers in Springfield. She loved art and was very artistic, with a keen eye and her own sense of style. She married and had three children with her husband Roland. Beverly was a proud Italian mother and homemaker. Beverly adored her family and took great pride in caring for her home and her children. She worked at several jobs while raising her family, including the local elementary school Frederick Harris. As her family grew, she took great joy in being Nonni to her grandchildren and spending time with them. Beverly was outspoken, full of energy, and enjoyed being with friends and family. She loved big holiday get togethers filled with family, Italian food, lively conversation and fun.

Beverly loved the beach and the family took many trips and vacations to the ocean, often with friends and their children. Beverly’s favorite trip was to Italy. All her siblings and their spouses had an amazing time exploring Italy together, including finding relatives and visiting them in their homes.

In retirement Beverly and her husband lived in Florida for many years. They loved the warm weather, exploring new places and making new friends. Beverly focused time on her art and enjoyed oil painting with her art group. She did many beautiful paintings that she shared with family.

She is survived by her son Martin Stevens of Ware; her two daughters; Tina Stevens and her husband Stanley Atwood of Hatfield, Lynn Stevens Bunce and her husband Roger Bunce of Springfield; five grandchildren, Thomasina and Andrew Stevens, and Amanda, Christopher and Bridget Bunce; her brothers Robert Veratti and Thomas Veratti; and her sister Shirley Tabb. Beverly was pre-deceased by her husband Roland (Rollo) Bentley Stevens, her brother Alfred Veratti, and her daughter-in-law Ruth Stevens.

Beverly will live forever in our hearts and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
