John A. Fazzina, 90, of Westport, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was husband of the late Sarah W. (Chace) Fazzina and Barbara A. (Powers) Fazzina, they were married for 57 years.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Anthony F. and Esther M. (West) Fazzina, he had lived in Westport since 1987. A veteran of the Korean War, he was drafted into the Army Signal Corps at the age of twenty serving most of his active duty in Germany. Through the G.I. Bill he was able to attend Bryant College. After graduation, he worked for General Motors and Raytheon, but spent the majority of his career as the CFO of Standard-Thompson Corporation.
John lived on the Westport River for 34 years where he loved to fish and garden, his asparagus patch was his pride and joy. At the age of forty he took up running, and calculated that he'd run about 7500 miles. Mr. Fazzina also enjoyed traveling, he particularly enjoyed a trip to Sicily, the home of his paternal grandparents, as well as 2 cross-country trips with his wife Barbara. He was an active Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Westport, where he served as Eucharistic Minister, alter server and greeter. Above all he treasured his friendships and family, and will be missed by all of us.
Including his wife, survivors include a son: Paul J. Fazzina and his wife Gail of FL; Karen L. Fazzina of San Francisco, CA and Nancy J. Fazzina of NC; 5 grandchildren: Michael, Kevin, Ronan, Fiona and Kean; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Memorial visitation will be Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the Potter Funeral Home from 4 - 7 P.M.
Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
