LYMAN- Robert D. Johnston, of Lyman, passed away on January 1, 2022.
He was born November 7th, 1946, to the late William & Marjorie (Ross)Johnston III.
Bob grew up in Saco and Lyman and attended Thornton Academy, graduating in 1965. He married Faith Mullen in 1968.
Bob was drafted into the Army into the 101st Airborne Rangers and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1971.
He was an honorary member of the Goodwins Mills Fire Dept. for 19 years serving 2 of those years as the Assistant Chief.
He was a heavy equipment mechanic for many years, working for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Cummins and finally retiring from Foglio Inc.
Bob enjoyed cars. From car shows to building his own 1930 Ford Coupe Hot Rod, he could talk all day about them. If he wasn’t at a car show or in his garage, he was enjoying his family. He truly enjoyed playing cards with them or just harassing them about something silly they may have done.
He was predeceased by his parents and infant son, Stephen Michael.
He is survived by his wife Faith of 53yrs. 2 daughters Karen Beaulieu, her husband Remi and sons Logan and Lucas, and Laura Bryant and her son Levi all of Dayton. 3 Brothers, Bruce Johnston and his wife Joanne, Brian Johnston and his wife Ellen and Blaine Johnston and his wife Gayle, all of Lyman, and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday Jan. 9 from 1 - 3 at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt, 22), Buxton. Burial will be in the spring with US Army Honors at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
