Obituary

Michael P. Morgan
Founder of Narrow Gate Flooring Company

TEWKSBURY: Michael P. Morgan, age 60, a former longtime Tewksbury resident, recently of Newton, NH, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Tuesday, December 28, 2021.

He was the beloved husband of Donna M. (D’Auteuil) Morgan with whom he celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on April 29, 2021.

Born in Lowell on April 17, 1961, he was the son of the late William F. Morgan and the late Marguerite (Kelleher) Morgan.

Mike was raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury schools, and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1979. Following high school, he attended Framingham State College, where he received his bachelor’s degree in food science.

Mike founded and operated Narrow Gate Flooring Company based in Newton, NH. He was an expert in floor installations. With the help of his son, he installed many a floor, whether it be wood or tile, across New England. He took great pride in his work, sharing photos of his many jobs with his family and friends. He was the most hard-working man many of us know.

Mike was the ultimate story-teller. He loved reminiscing on his childhood and college years, and the many years after. He never ran out of stories to tell. Somehow, after years of telling the same stories, and it never getting old, he always managed to slip one in that we'd never heard before. He was a huge jokester, always up for a prank (usually involving a crazy hat) and a laugh. He loved crossword puzzles, Scrabble, card games (45s, Hearts, Poker), all kinds of trivia, watching the same TV show or movie over and over, going out to eat with his family and friends (or just himself!), taking his family to "Weird Al" Yankovic concerts, and so many more things. Most of all, he loved the Three Stooges. He could watch it over and over, laughing just as hard every time. He loved to point out funny moments. Many people can say they've received a three stooges text from him! He truly was a stooge for life.

He recently helped build a house for his wife who he loved so much, and was in the process of finishing it. He resided there with his two daughters and the occasional visit from his son for the past few years. He loved having his kids around. He never wanted them to move out, even though they're all grown up. He loved working with his son, and he loved visiting his girls at their places of work, whether it be a restaurant, Starbucks or a bank.

He was truly a family man. He was a wonderful father, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, etc. He loved and is loved by his siblings, his parents, his nieces and nephews, his cousins, etc. He had so many stories and pictures that he loved to share with everyone.

He also had a wonderful group of friends that he's had for decades. He maintained the same friends since high school and college, getting together with them yearly, or even more frequently. He loved them dearly and had a plethora of stories about them, many of them so crazy they're hard to even believe!

Before his career in flooring, he had a long career as a microbiologist at Anheuser Busch. Before that, he had various jobs over the years including bartending which he enjoyed and had many stories about. For the past several years, he had a flourishing career as a referee/umpire, having the most success in college softball. He was loved by coaches, players and other officials alike. He belonged to several officiating associations, including NHVOA (Volleyball), NHSUA (Softball), NHBOA-IAABO (Basketball), and NHSOA (Soccer).

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Zachary W. Morgan, of Hooksett, NH, Rachael A. Morgan and Kara E. Morgan, both of Newton, NH. Mike was the brother of Gary J. Morgan and his wife Karen, of Billerica, Donna M. Moore and her husband Robert, of Tewksbury, Paul F. Morgan and his wife Corinne, of Tewksbury, Judy A. Murphy, of Tewksbury, and the late William H. Morgan, husband of Angela Morgan. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are Tuesday, January 4, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury.
